This
study aimed to determine the leadership styles of the managers and
performance of the employees of DMMA College of Southern Philippines.
What are the leadership styles ascribed by the managers of the
college? What is the level of performance effectiveness of the
employees? Is there a significant difference in the performance
effectiveness of the teaching and the non-teaching staff? Is there a
significant relationship between the leadership styles of the managers
and the performance effectiveness of the employees? Do the leadership
styles of the managers influence the performance effectiveness of the
employees? These are the questions that the researcher wanted to find
out in this study.
Survey
questionnaires were administered to 134 employees of the college of
whom 91 are teaching staff and 43 are non-teaching staff.
The researcher made use of Frequencies and Percentages in determining the demographic profile of the respondents. Mean was
used to determine the levels of the leadership styles of the managers
and the performance effectiveness of the employees of the college. T –
Test was used to determine the significance of the difference in the
levels of the leadership styles ascribed by the managers and the
performance effectiveness of the employees as perceived by the
respondents. ANOVA was used to determine the significance of the
difference in the performance effectiveness of the employees when
grouped by teaching and non-teaching category. Pearson Product Moment
Correlation was used to identify the significant relationship between the two variables. Regression Analysis was used to identify whether the leadership styles influence the performance effectiveness of the employees.
Results revealed that the managers of the college mostly ascribe
servant leadership and situational leadership in dealing with their
employees. The research also manifested that among the four indicators
in the performance effectiveness of the employees, the item stable
policies and programs got the highest weighted mean which revealed that
the employees are confident that the college has stable policies and
programs. The study also revealed that there is no significant
difference in the performance of the employees when grouped according to
the category of teaching and non-teaching staff. Furthermore, it
revealed that there is a significant relationship between the leadership
styles ascribed by the managers and the performance effectiveness of
the employees. Finally, it revealed that the leadership styles of the
managers influence the performance effectiveness of the employees of
DMMA College of Southern Philippines.
